Students at the Kodokan Dojo train in the traditional art of Okinawan Karate-Do, with a focus on fundamental basic self defence techniques, and realistic self defence sparring exercises.

Every aspect of a student's training is underpinned by these proven methods and tactics.

To support the traditional Karate curriculum, all students will also be trained in basic break falls, and the Restraint Control and Removal techniques of the Yoshinkan School of Aikido, as used by the Queensland Police Service, the Tokyo Riot Police, and many other police and military services.

In the Senior Grades, students will also train in the defence and disarming of various Traditional Weapons, such as the Tanto (Knife), Bokken (Sword), and Jo (Short Staff). All of which have modern day equivalents, ensuring that the senior student of the Kodokan Dojo has a very well rounded self defence capability.
